I've been playing around with the Google "Trends" tool and found some interesting statistics on who looks up what when it comes to boxing.
Now, as you might guess, when I typed in Canelo Alvarez, he had huge spikes of attention in May and September of last year as all fighters get a ton of attention when they fight and nearly none most other times. Canelo's attention came from Mexico at number one and Kazakhstan (LOL) at number two, which makes perfect sense. GGG's number one country for looking him up was Kazakhstan and then Mexico was number four I think, which again, makes perfect sense.
When it comes to Lomachenko, I couldn't find Urkaine even on the list of countries looking him up, which I found odd. No love for the hometown hero?
Terence Crawford owed most of his numbers to Julius Indongo.
The Namibian spiked people looking him up on Google by a long shot. Namibia is number one for him and it's not even close to the rest, with the United States being seventh.
I also looked up others and came up with some surprises. Check it out and see what you can find. The numbers may shock you.
