    February 17, 2017:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder has won a fight with Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin - not in the ring, but in the courthouse - in a trial over a title bout that was called off after the Russian tested positive for a banned substance.

After less than an hour, a federal jury in Manhattan on Monday ruled in favor of Wilder in a civil trial, finding that Povetkin ingested meldonium after a World Anti-Doping Agency ban of the drug went into effect in January 2016.

If GGG wants to stand on principle, the precedent has been set! If he doesn't want to pull out and sue, he should STFU!
I did a search after I saw your response. You might have missed this. Wilder didn't call off the fight. According to Reuters:

"The lawsuits came after the World Boxing Council announced on May 13 that Povetkin had tested positive for meldonium and subsequently announced the postponement of his bout with champion Wilder."

The WBC called off the fight. They refused to sanction it. The incidents aren't the same. Golovkin is totally justified in voicing his opinion. In your scenario Golovkin would be calling off the fight for no reason. The sanctioning bodies are backing Canelo. The NSAC is apparently still looking into it. So what is his legal justification. Canelo the little weasel put Golovkin in a bad spot. The fight might still be cancelled by the NSAC and the G has waited since the fall for nothing and lost millions of dollars. I guess he could always sue Canelo ala Wilder.

    • Everyone is missing the point... He is pointing out the obvious flaws in our game WHILE STILL going ahead with the fight. I'd say Triple G is a nickname that suits him well actually. That means he is no punk and he is confident in beating Canelo AGAIN.

Wilder made the 1st move though:

        16 May 2016:

Wilder and his team have been in Sheffield, England, for the past two weeks training and adjusting to several hours of time difference. They were scheduled to fly to Moscow on Sunday afternoon but did not board their flight and were making plans to return to the United States despite having not heard from the WBC on the matter, a member of Wilder's team told ESPN.com.

Hours after Wilder and his team skipped their flight, the WBC, having little choice with the titleholder preparing to return home, announced the fight was off and called it a postponement.

Ok I guess he did but it's risky. The WBC may not go along with it. Golovkin is still going to fight him anyway according to an interview he gave. I'm glad he is giving Canelo a verbal roasting. He deserves it.

It was risky, but as the saying goes where I'm from, "DON'T TALK ABOUT IT, BE ABOUT IT!"

That unsourced statement that Wilder left Sheffield to go to the States and left the WBC with no choice but to postpone the fight was only published by ESPN and it's parent company ABC. The fight was called off by the WBC on 15May, Wilder left on 16May.

                    • Ignorant people think the amount that Canelo had in his system was sufficient to give him any kind of edge!

Understand something Canelo had an illegal substance that used in high quan****** can be unfair in any sport, but the traces of what he had were so small, that it doesn't make a difference.

All of the sudden we have doctors here that are determining that Canelo was using some sort of Roids!

GGG if you don't want the fight then just walk away and that is it! If you wanted to see who the best is because of the draw then prove it like Wilder did vs Ortiz and beat the **** out of this guy! Ortiz tested positive and what happened? Every body praised him after the fight, and for got that he tested positive, Please fans don't get in this sh$$$it about who we go for be a fan of boxing! Because like home boy says YOU DON'T **** ABOUT BOXING!!!
