Now I'm not sure if that's true. AJ seems like a HBO fighter to me and they clearly loved the Klitschko fight.
Yeah, no. The Parker fight is the last fight.

And as Hearn stated, they’ve been good to him. It should be noted that two days after Hearn complimented Showtime, he implied that Joshua could go elsewhere. But anyway, why not let the networks bid? Well, because Hearn has a deal with his other fighters for HBO. So Joshua will follow suit. And that was Wilder’s point. They both fight on the same network and that network is clearly the market leader for boxing in the US. Why go elsewhere? Because your promoter says so?

Do you have a link? Hearn specifically said Showtime would get the right of first refusal so to speak, and they were the preferred option.

Do you think AJs career is dictated by Wilder? Because that would be absolutely ridiculous.

As I said, AJ is the A+++++++ side in that fight. Wherever AJ wants it, that's where it's going to be and Wilder will get thrown a bone if and when the A side feel like it. That's all that needs to be said.

AJ has his own management team. To think they're dictacted to by Eddie Hearn is an absolutely ******ed notion.

      • Hearn is a really good promoter.
Wilder is entitled to hype himself - but he just got seriously owned.

You have old info the first right of refusal was for the Parker fight.

And why are you so defensive? My initial quote was regarding what Wilder said. Now you're asking me do I think AJ's career is dictated by Wilder? Take a breath.

The last interview I saw with hearn about this, he said both would get a fair shake but the focus was showtime because they were there first. Espinoza seemed confident as well.

Am I defensive? I don't feel I am. But you asked why go else where? And it's obvious isn't it? HBO are looking for a star, and AJ happens to be one. HBO PPV is and will always be better than Showtime. More subscribers, bigger audience, history of boxing on HBO.. It's just bigger and better.

It's ridiculous to suggest (by wilder) that Hearn is a white man 'milking' another black man. Come on. That's ridiculous.

AJ owns the shows he puts on. That's the matchroom model and has been since they picked up PPV with Sky. Same with Froch, Brook, AJ etc.

If anyone's getting milked it's Wilder.

            from the link you sent:

"I read all this stuff about he's moving to HBO … completely untrue," Hearn said. "We will talk to people, but Showtime backed Joshua five fights ago when others were [only] thinking about it. They've committed to him. We're very happy where we are."

^pretty much what I saw last time he talked about it.

As far as Hearn being happy with Showtime, we’ll see what they do with the Jarrell Miller fight which is next. I’m well aware of that quote.

But as I was trying to tell you, their deal with Showtime is over. Again, we’ll see.

Yeah, you’re being defensive. I get it, you like AJ. No biggie. However, I listed several questions in my last post, starting with...why not let the networks bid? If Joshua does end up going to HBO for his next fight without Showtime getting to at least bid, then the only logical conclusion is that Joshua’s movements are predicated on what’s best for his promoter.

I'm not, I just find it amusing that you'll somehow allude to AJ and his team choosing a worse deal than what Showtime could offer. That is what you're saying when you say "why not let them bid" right? Of course they'll bid. That's how business works.

How do you think it works? They decline Showtime's better deal because Eddie Hearn wants it.. ?

I'm not quite following the logic on that one. Why on earth would they do that?

What business are you referring to when you say, that's how business works? Certainly not the business of boxing. There are plenty of instances where folks bid...and plenty where they don't. Hearn doesn't have to tell Showtime what he's doing or go back to them to match. And if he's already got a deal with HBO (which he does), it just might make sense for him to move the biggest carrot over. We'll see.

The only reason he'd move is if the deal is better. Simple. That's how business works, especially in boxing. Maximizing income.

You didn't answer my question. Why on earth would he move if the deal was worse?

That just doesn't make any sense to me.

It doesn't because you're so focused on Joshua and defending anything related, that everything else I'm saying is going over your head. Let me spell this out a little more for you.

Business is about maximizing profit as you say, right? Anthony Joshua is Eddie Hearn's main source of income in boxing, but he isn't the only source.

Hearn signed Danny Jacobs last fall. He and Jacobs' manager negotiated with HBO for a multi-fight deal. Right after he signed Jacobs, he said, "Probably won't be long that I'm the exclusive provider of content to HBO like I am at Sky."

You ask why would he go to HBO? Because it's not about whether it's a better deal for Joshua, it's about whether it's a better deal for Matchroom. if he plays his cards right, he can control the entire HBO budget sans Canelo. It'll make him that much more enticing to other boxers in the US and establish him here, not just for the next five years, but longer. Now that's maximizing revenue. Not just for the short-term, but the long term.
