Too small of a sample size.

But to some degree I'd expect amateur boxing to be harder than amateur MMA cuz amateur boxing keeps moving you towards tougher competition & does some half decent matchmaking from my understanding. Amateur MMA is any two dipsh^ts off the street who wanna fight from my understanding & there isn't really the tournament-like progression from level to level in amateur MMA.

I think amateur MMA is kinda like pro boxing in that way. You can in theory fight any bs a$$ guy. And ironically amateur boxing is more like pro MMA with it being about competition & moving forward & up til you win a trophy or belt or get beat.

well we know competition doesn't matter with floyd fans so if he fights non mma fighter cm punk it would be the same as him beating conor in mma.

Floyd is getting kicked in the head, taken down and either submitted or pummeled.

Amateur boxing is more structured and organized than amateur mma for sure that’s why to get signed with the UFC you have to win a few pro mma fights but if you have a background in college wrestling or have won or placed in a established grappling competition you will definitely get your chance to sign with a quality organization.

But yeah I don’t care what anyone says, boxing is MUCH MORE difficult that mma.

I know because I’ve done both, and I’ll tell you what you wouldn’t catch me in a pro boxing ring but you will see me in the octagon

Im a division 1 wrestler so I am far more knowledgeable in that than boxing, but having said that I’m not saying Floyd could be a champion in the UFC but there is no doubt in my mind he can win some fights in that organization.

Edit: and the only reason I’m not a pro now is I want to graduate first, not because my skill level is lacking because being a division 1 wrestler is pretty much the same pedigree as being a world class amateur boxer
fair enough man, wasnt trying to condescend you, got some good credentials by sounds of it. but i still disagree, i dont see a 40 year old boxer whos never done mma or another combat sport in his life being able to transition at this stage to beat any ufc fighter.

It’s all good bro, but yeah I don’t think he would do it in the first place.

And I see where your coming from, with all the facts one would think if he does decide to really do it he’s in for a world of hurt, but me knowing that some UFC fighters are as raw as could be going up against someone who has been fighting all of his life regardless of the discipline is why I know he could win some fights in that organization.

All fights start on your feet

Biggest thing going against floyd is father time his body being so ingrained with boxing muscle memory wise, I feel he may be too old to learn mma to the point of instinctively responding in the cage to take downs kicks etc. He's a phenomenal athlete but the old adage you can't teach an old dog new tricks comes to mind.

We've seen one pure boxer in the ufc cage (against someone even older than him) and the guy simply walked up to him and took him down within seconds and that was that. Its not as if floyd is even a one punch knockout artist, ufc fighters dont all just have glassjaws that as soon as they get tagged its game over lol. Even if floyd did manage to put on some sort of boxing exhibition, all they would have to do is get him to the floor once and its over. amazes me how ignorant people are on this site when it comes to the idea of boxers fighting mma fighters.
What you don't get is its not that hard to learn some defense against take downs, FM doesn't have to be best defender he only has to be competent enough to keep a guy off him so he can use his fists, and that guy has to come into Floyds punching range and what do you think happens then.

FM is not going to a lions den, he will pick an opponent carefully you can bet your bottom dollar it wont be a master at take down.

This is one of the greatest boxers of all time and your telling me he cannot possibly win a fight, its people like you that make bookies rich.

My biggest concern with Floyd is its an old basically done version, if you were to put a prime elite boxer like GGG Lomo Spence Thurman and give them 6mths training I believe they could all win in the cage against respectable opponents, no elite prime boxer has had a go Im dammed if I would right them off.

No he wouldn't. Its one guy beating another guy. One guy don't destroy a f#cking sport. Thats silly to think that.

Its a bad look for MMA thats about it. And to a lot of boxing fans Conor lasting as long as he did was a bad look for boxing. Boxing or MMA ain't getting destroyed cuz one guy loses doe in particular a mfer as old as Floyd was when he fought Conor or as overrated & as flawed a guy as most MMA guys consider Conor.
Oh nah, I didnt mean destroy as in "do something bad" to the sport. I mean it will make a giant splash. My bad, didnt quite explain myself. But it seem like we both saying the same ****t.
