Comments Thread For: Jose Ramirez vs. Amir Imam: Afterthoughts

California's San Joaquin Valley already had the makings of a franchise. After Saturday, the whole of the boxing world might have a star on their hands. Jose Ramirez won his first major title with a rousing decision over Amir Imam that ticked a lot of boxes. He took some big shots. He showed the aptitude for technical judgments.

That was a great win for Ramirez. I really liked Imam's style too. Beside the low left hand, he keeps it really tight and you can tell he's always looking to unwind and counter. That was a great fight. Both guys opted to go at it toe to toe in the late rounds. Great stuff

This kid needs some defense good grief!!! The kid kept his gloves hip and stomach height no matter if he had distance or fighting on the inside or against the ropes lol hahaha Not to mention he rarely followed up after his jab like he was scared to be countered. But his offense was good for the most part and was accurate when he did let his hands go. He needs a new trainer ASAP!!

If Imam would've had a different promoter building his career the result might have been different in this fight.

Imam was tough and he had a good plan to protect himself against the best body puncher in the sport, Ramirez. Looking at compubox number Ramirez won all 12 rounds, but big props to imam who is a skillful warrior with big heart!
