Comments Thread For: WBC Prez: I'm Not Protecting Canelo, But We Have To Be Fair!

World Boxing Council President (WBC) Mauricio Sulaiman has rejected the idea that his organization is protecting Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs), who is currently preparing for a scheduled rematch with WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs).

WBC only cares for the money involved in sanctioning this fight.

The fair thing to do for Team Golovkin is to cancel this fight and postpone it.
That way they can schedule the fight to another time and ensure Canelo isnt taking PEDS

Mexican fighters can literally cycle clenbuterol and get away with the tainted meat excuse, got it. Every fighter who struggles to cut fat should just train in Mexico.

"He was in Mexico, going back and forth going to several commitments; this could be the result of one appetizer, one steak, one event where he had one taco."

Im telling you this is the perfect excuse for fighters. The Mexican soccer team at least they knew where the source was and they tested the contaminated meat, this sounds like anyone could go back and forth from Mexico and use clen with no repercussions or proof.

athletes will have to test under 1 nanogram to claim meat contamination, most ped abusers will test well over a nanogram..

            Found the loop hole

Its a great excuse. I'm sure it happens honestly. But this is professional sports. Mistakes like this are not allowed to happen. Accident or not, there needs to be some kind of punishment. But with all the pockets that will be fattened because of this rematch, which Canelo is lucky to get, he straight up lost the first fight, nothing will happen. It's sad. This is one of the reasons boxing has such a bad rep for being corrupt.

If Canelo wants to end this once and for all, then he will have to undergo the hair follicle testing. The best way to test for Clen is NOT via urine. It's through hair testing. It's already been proven that competitive bodybuilders get popped less for Clen via urine than they do hair testing. In this case, It's the only sure way differentiate between prolonged use of the drug itself and contamination via food consumption.

I'd like to see this presented as a serious option to Canelo via WBC, WBA, Team Golovkin, and the overall boxing community. If it's brought to Golden Boy as the only sure way to settle this once and for all, based on the studies of many doctors, forensic analysts, and sports medicine consultants, and Team Canelo still says NO - well then, we ALL would know Canelo was indeed dirty.

By the way. When Sulaiman says they're just being fair - that's not true. You can't exonerate someone without having all of the facts. WBC and WBA already said he is completely innocent without having a full investigation. That's very consistent with bias and is void of fairness.
