sanctioning fee's for fighter to hold belts

for some reason i was just thinking weather George Groves is now the IBO 168 belt holder after beating JR..

Turns out they could not agree over the sanctioning fee before the fight , so therefore the belt is now vacant (despite it being billed as a unification match)

i was left wondering a couple of things, does the more presigouis the belt vary the amount the fighter has to pay. ie i assume that the WBC champion has to pay a lot more to jose sulliman than to joe bloggs from the IBO.

and also do you think that say floyd mayeather in his pomp would pay less than i dunno lets say Scott quigg , just so their belt would be associated with a more prestigious fighter.

can someone give me the low down on belts and fee's ??

I think the main ones got a % they take (believe 3% is around the standard), although I have heard they are looser on that % when a guy holds multiple belts cuz it'd be a lil f#cked up a undisputed champion would need to pay 12% for sanctioning fees.

That's why they don't encourage unifications. It directly affects their bottom line.

Great point & definitely something that doesn't get brought up very often.
