  • Comments Thread For: Bellew Frustrated, Explains His Beef With Canelo's Positive Tests

Former WBC cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew has been very vocal about boxing's ongoing problem with fighters using performance enhancing drugs. Bellew believes the problem would be solved if the sport issued lifetime bans for a second offense - so it's no surprise that he believes heavyweights Alexander Povetkin and Luis Ortiz should be banned for life.

The difference between being found guilty or innocent of PED use is a whole lot of money, nothing more.

Bellew is absolutely right. It's not just unfair. It's dangerous!

Canelo's test results were consistent with contaminated meat.

Mexico has a known problem with contaminated meat.

It's not that hard to figure out.

Apparently, it's incredibly hard for boxing fans to figure out because they're still ranting about him being a PED cheat.
I've never been a Canelo apologist. I thought he lost the last fight. But, the fact that people can't (or are unwilling to) make the obvious connection with a continual problem with Mexican meat just illustrates how ignorant and/or closed minded boxing fans are.

Regardless of whether you think Canelo chested or not, Bellew is right. The organizations are already proclaiming Canelo to be innocent and meanwhile, less popular fighters have been suspended for having less amounts in their system than Canelo had. Anyone just automatically claiming this is obviously meat contamination is basically being a biased fool.

Tip for professional boxers: buy meat from mexico, take PEDs, then blame it on the meat.

Even if it’s an innocent mistake, it allowing a fighter to have an unfair advantage.
