Comments Thread For: Arum on 'Improved' Verdejo: I Have To See it With My Own Eyes

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum is skeptical about the promise of a new and improved Felix 'Diamante' Verdejo - who returns to the ring tomorrow night in New York. Verdejo will take part in his first fight in 13 months against Mexican puncher Antonio Lozada Jr. at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.

That's all I can say for him until he proves otherwise. Us Boricuas expect a lot out of our fighters, we waiting for the next great from P.R. to step up. I'm not lying about him, even his own promoter is down playing him, he is what he is right now. Just keeping it 100

"Us boricuas expect alot from our fighters" lmao, both Juanma Lopez and Wilfredo Vazquez were garbage and Puerto Ricans gave them so much hype in their careers, they even made it a major event when they fought each other

Verdejo is in the same boat Linares is in... he's superbly talented, skilled, and has excellent form, but lacks the physical strength to win at the elite level. They have to be matched carefully because they can be upset depending on the qualities of the opponent. He can have the career Linares is having, which isn't too bad seeing as GBP's moved him into a top lightweight ranking.

It's strange to see Top Rank disinterested in continuing to build him up as a viable/lucrative opponent. If he wins his upcoming fight, I would match him up against Crolla, if he wins that Linares coming off of a loss; boom a viable Lomachenko opponent in 2019.

I never liked Juanma, during the time he was winning I told people there was something I didn't like and I didn't think he was great. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. I wasn't sure about. But usually the sons of boxing fathers do not work out. We have plenty of examples of that, Lol.
