Rewatching now. Going into rd 6. For all the talk about canelo landing the cleaner blows, golovkin landed all the clean, flush, big shots in this first half, canelo only skimmers. Badly outboxed in that first half. Also seemed he blew most of his load in the second trying to put gain some respect which he didnt get, just tired himself out.
Rd 6, be honest, missed some of this because was typing, cant be arsed to rewatch, but canelo did land his first flush powershot to the head with a right uppercut.
In rd 7 it's now the fight that left us with the impression, canelo running, golovkin on full attack.Last edited by SplitSecond; 03-16-2018, 05:24 PM.Comment

Canelo landed more of the significant punches in round 1, 2, 3 as well. GGG didn't land one significant punch in the first roundLast edited by mcdonalds; 03-16-2018, 05:25 PM.Comment

I gave Canelo 1-3 and 10-12. GGG most everything in between. Comes down to how you score the round where Canelo landed the huge right hand, probably best punch of the fight either way, 8th or 9th, I forget which. I gave Canelo that round so 7-5 Alvarez.
That was watching it live, haven’t watched it since.
Anyone who includes corner instructions in their scoring summary should never be allowed to score a fight, or taken seriously. Judges don’t hear that. They can’t consider that. And a corner may tell a guy anything to motivate him because they don’t know how the judges are scoring it — if Canelo’s corner told him he’s won every round and he can coast the last three, do you automatically give him every round because they said so? SMH. (And if anyone was gassing, it was GGG, who slowed considerably late in the fight.)
The lopsided score in Canelo’s favor was obviously way off, criminally off. But that has somehow created an impression that GGG ran away with the fight, which he absolutely did not. The reason that score was out of line (or any score which had either guy way ahead) is because it was a close fight.Comment
