  • Comments Thread For: Wilder Reacts To Ortiz's Claim That He Was Saved From KO Loss

Earlier this month, fans were treated to a heavyweight war when WBC world champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) knocked out Cuban puncher Luis Ortiz (28-1, 24 KOs) in the tenth round. After four cautious rounds at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, the fight broke out when Wilder dropped Ortiz in the fifth round. Ortiz would recover and then badly hurt Wilder in the seventh round. He nearly had the unbeaten champion ready to go when the bell rang to end the seventh.

Wilder was still on stanky legs in the beginning of the 8th round. If he could survive that seventh round I doubt those 5/8 seconds would have made a difference in the beginning of the 8th round. But in future moving forward NYC needs to make sure they do their checks in the corner during the interval. Not after the bell has rang for the next round.

I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch. Would rather see Parker (if he loses to AJ) vs Ortiz

I just think Luis Ortiz is in disbelief that Deontay has such a incredible chin -- maybe the best in the HW division and of course the most lethal weapon in the sport ; that right right hand from Tuscaloosa Alabama baby! country strong you hear!

and if dw had 10 more seconds, it wouldnt have made it to the 10th.

"Saved" my a$$. It was the start of the next round and he was just fine and then went to KO him out. Sore loser. Wilder's power is phenomenal whatever he hits he destroys

There are some smart black people on this website who know exactly what happened in that fight, the doctor gave wilder extra seconds to recover by checking his face, even paulie malignaggi said it on air that you can't do that , the referee also was on wilder side, and there are ****** black fanboys like iamboxing and 1hour run who let the black pride get the better of them, that also think wilder us the best heavyweight in boxing lmao
