Comments Thread For: McDonnell: Beating Naoya Inoue Will Get Me Some Recognition!

Doncaster's Jamie McDonnell (29-2-1, 13 KOs) has admitted that he was contemplating a move to Super bantamweight prior to finding out that he has been handed a chance to take a big scalp when he travels to Tokoyo to meet former WBC light-flyweight and WBO flyweight holder Naoya Inoue (15-0, 13 early) on May 25.

This bum said he never heard of Inoue?! two weight champion, lineal? in the P4P since 2014?!

How long have you been in P4P discussions? or even the clear #1. in your weight class? was it when you robbed Kameda or when you robbed Solis in Monaco? You need this boy for your highest payday! you trash!

After Inoue sends your ass to 122, they gone run a train through your ass! coward weight-bully! Maybe you can 'meat' that other fraud Luis Nery at the new division where you belong!

Maybe he's being honest, but I have my doubts.

He declared he wouldn't be fighting at 118 again and would vacate the belt. I wonder if an offer came in along the lines of 'why vacate ? Come over to Japan, get a nice purse, just put in a nominal performance and maybe bow out early blaming the travel/injurywhatever, then blame the weight and confirm that cannot fight at 118 any more. Inoue gets the belt (for a price), you lose far away from home eyes with the built-in weight excuse, and can then move up with your pockets full instead of just dumping the belt for nothing'.

Or maybe I'm just a cynical old furt.

McDonnell does not watch boxing, he admits he's not a fan of the sport, it's just his job.
