What is going on at HBO?

Been awhile since they have had anything interesting. I see the boxing schedule and other than Canelo vs. GGG, all they have is some horrible Danny Jacobs fight listed all through June.

    What gives?

    transition of power.

Patriarch is retiring, realignment has began. We're just seeing the effects as consumers

They have a couple big stars, who fight on PPV, and not much else.

They have an amateur running their boxing department, who insisted that everybody go in tough every single fight, which is suicide for a boxing business, so the experienced people fled.

Now HBO has a mish mash of lower level fighters and very little the public cares about. And the fighters the public cares about only fight on PPV.

        It's a recipe for disaster.

HBo only has 1 division on lock ( MW ) and 2 other division with any sort of pull which is Superfly and 175

Domestically The rest are either locked up by PBC/Haymon or TR has control of the big name fighter in the division or controlled by International promoters

Outside of those 3 division They don’t really have any recognizable fighters to make good fights

They’ll continue to lose power among PBC , TR and others because GGg & Kov only have a couple years left at best ( 2/3 of their biggest stars ) and after that unless they land AJ they won’t have new names to generate the public’s interest

So if they stick with boxing it’ll essentially be the Canelo network who will only fight on PPV and handful of lower tier fighters no one gives a sh.it about

Keep an eye on Hearn. Seems hes got something big happening. Recent interview said over the next month or 2 will be announcing a "huge amount" of US shows, starting from August.

We just had Bivol vs Barrera, Kovalev double header, a Super Fly Card that had ATG action, and now we are going to have Jacobs vs Sulecki and Andrade vs Derevyachenko.

They are just stretched, there is ESPN who is absolutely owning right now along with Showtime.

It’s their head of sports director I think he’s called peter Nelson , he’s awful and doesn’t know anything about the sport or care for it.

The Bob Father move to ESPN. Not many saw it coming, but according to Arum it was a necessary reality in order to boost the business of boxing.

The Bob Father brought boxing back to free television. That's why we saw Manny Pacquiao, Terence Crawford, and Vasyl Lomachenko on ESPN.

Pacquiao vs Horn, peaked at 4.4 million viewers.

HBO’s declining interest in boxing, at least in terms of its budget is pretty evident.
