how ring is propaganda???? ring rewards any fighter who deserves it (either beating the ring champion or the winner of #1 vs #2). many non hbo and al haymon fighters get rewarded with ring belt.

in a perfect world we would get rid of the wbc and wbo ibf wba and only have ring lineal belt. the only belt the matters. the only belt that is given to a deserving champion.

I didn't notice but Ring Magazine has Linares as the Lineal champion

#1 - Ring Magazine is literally owned by Linares' promoter.

#2 - Ring Magazine no longer recognizes the lineal championship. After Linares' promoter bought the magazine, he changed all of the rules so he'd be able to benefit HBO fighters and harm SHO fighters when it fit his needs.

The magazine belt is the magazine belt. It has nothing to do with lineal anymore and it's owned by HBO's lead promoter, so it's completely worthless.

If this is true, then why do the two most respectable organisations which track boxing lineage (CBZ and TBRB) not see Linares as the lineal champion?

The answer is because he isn’t one. Fat Dan was wrong. His ranking of them being no.1 and no.2 was not universally accepted...

That lineal stuff is overrated and meaningless to me. Cotto was the lineal middleweight champ when everybody knew GGG was the real middleweight champ including Cotto himself who fought Geale at a 157 pound catchweight instead of GGG. Spinks was the lineal heavyweight champ when the real heavyweight champ Tyson KOed him in 60 seconds of the 1st round. Whoever wins between Loma and Linares they still have yet to defeat Easter or Mikey who are also champion lightweights.

The Ring does not bestow lineal champions anymore, TBRB does. Either way Linares won the Ring belt in a 1 vs. 3 matchup, so he wouldn't be lineal even if the Ring was still bestowing those honors.
