Cuban fighters taking a lot of L's lately

The Cuban school is in a bit of a slump. Let's see if Erislandy Lara can get them off the slide against Jarrett Hurd.

Besides the Wilder/Ortiz fight, they all sort of fit the pattern of a Cuban fighter fighting a pressure fighter who just overwhelmed them, and the Cuban in every case didn't have any sort of thunder in their punches to gain the opponent's respect and just got their ass kicked.

The Cubans generally do seem to have that amateur mentality of being content to score points instead of trying to actually hurt the opponent.

If Lara can literally run around for 12 rounds he can beat Hurd easily. Hurd stinks but he's huge and keeps walking through punches until the other guy tires out.

Age is probably a big factor except in Barthelemy's case. For Barthelemy it is more a case of diminishing returns from going up in weight. If only Arlen Lopez would turn pro.

Yunier Dorticos and Yunieski Gonzales also lost recently, the thing is that less Cubans are going to turn pro if they see that the ones that defect are not doing as good as they expected.
