Comments Thread For: Valdez's Coach: The Jaw Was Separated, We Fought a Welterweight!

According to Manny Robles, trainer of Oscar Valdez, his boxer suffered a fractured jaw in the fifth round and continued to fight the entire way. Valdez went to a local hospital following the fight. The fight, at the StubHub Center, Carson, California, was set to be a battle for the WBO featherweight crown but the Bury man came in 2.8lbs overweight on Friday.

Quigg the weight bully severely injured Valdez.

This is why cheaters shouldn't be tolerated in this sport. The consequences are too severe.

They had their chance to cancel the fight but didn't take it.

Shame on Quigg and shame on Valdez's advisors.

Man cut that sht out about weight bullying. Is it the extra weight that allowed Quigg to land flush counters?

Quigg’s educated punches was what had Valdev bleeding allover the place.

Extra weight can be a disadvantage.. you guys know that right?

The disadvantage was that Quigg couldn't fight for a World title. The only reason he took the fight was to become a two weight World Champion.

Quigg didn't come in with extra weight on purpose. They badly miscalculated the weight.

Quigg walked into the ring as a welterweight, dude.

            That's some bull****.

It's obvious that Quigg should be fighting at 130 at least, he looks like a corpse when he weighs in. At 29 maybe he can't get the weight off like he used to?

Straight up BS though, he relies on being bigger and stronger to make up for his lack of boxing IQ and skills.

Quigg didn't come in heavy on purpose. He's got an injured foot and couldn't do any road work which messed up his routine.

This is were the “Warrior” tag goes straight in. Not quitting in front of your hometown fans with a round to go and then immediately calling yourself a warrior.
