How does Wilder deserve 40% vs AJ, if his career high is $2,1 million?

Wilder's latest demand really doesn't matter. By conceding that he would accept 40%, he has conceded the power in making the fight to Eddie Hearn.
The fact is that, it should be possible for this fight to be made and deliver career high paydays for both Joshua and Wilder. When it comes to the negotiations, Hearn will probably start at low, and go up in small increments until greed takes over on Wilder's side and they accept out of fear of Hearn losing patience.
Meanwhile, both sides will try to throw in shots to help their argument for a bigger cut. Fans will get frustrated, accuse both sides of x, y and z and eventually a deal will be agreed that both parties are satisfied with.

Meanwhile Joshua made 20 millions per fight against his last 2 opponents.
Wilder must accept the B side he is & cut his appetite... and fly to UK.
That's how modern boxing works these days.

Hed be ****** to turn down even 70-30. Probably means about 15 million for him if the fight is in the UK.
