To show bias for the network fighter.

That way it doesn't look like a total robbery if their fighter gets a gift.

I score my own fights and don't change my score card because of what a commentator says. I don't mind Lederman. He is a decent scorer and he gives his opinion very quickly. Farhood also scores fights for Showtime and does a good job. I don't think they do any harm. I wouldn't mind if they just showed the fight with no commentary at all from anyone.

My first thought was that they should just get scores from the fans watching instead.

...But then I remembered how bad the Twitter scorecard was for Donaire-Magdaleno and decided Lederman is actually the better option.

FFS the "fans" had it like 118-110 Donaire in a fight he got his ass kicked in

I like how.. It may be PBC does it, they have a fan score poll for each round. Let's us see what consensus says.

The WBC has pushed hard for open scoring after round 4 and round 8, but the TV networks don't want it.

They fear fighters are more likely to coast if they know for sure they have the fight won, leading to more boring fights that fans tune out for.

And they fear fans are more likely to tune out if they know for sure a fighter has the fight won, instead of sticking around to the end even in a lopsided fight because you never know if the fighter might get screwed.
