Ok so I’ll just put a scenario because I’m interested what would happen. It’s a possibility so intrigued to see views (ignore the way I’ve done outcome of result as that’s a secondary to the point)
Wilder and Joshua agree to meet with 70/30 Joshua fight 1 and a rematch of 70:30 wilder if wilder wins; 80;20 Joshua if Joshua wins.
In the matchup Joshua dominates with his jab all boxing first few rounds, and eventually catches wilder round 4-5 with a counter; dominates some more end eventually KO wilder round 8.
What would then happen to the rematch? I would expect there wouldn’t be much demand for an immediate rematch in that situation; how would rematch scenario then work?
From wilder perspective his biggest payday would still be rematch, from Joshua view he may aswell move on take on a Tyson fury, etc.
I’m wondering on the basis of above whether it’s in eddie hearns best interest to allow a rematch in any situation? Would it be better to guarantee a rematch within a 2 year period if demand isn’t there? Would allow wilder to fight a couple extra fights to rebuild up the fight; and Joshua to move on - before returning again?
Thoughts? Have we seen this sort of scenario before?
