machida, gsp, has karate background as their main skills BUT they transition into mma before getting into the ufc. that's how they were successful.
if they would have jumped right into the ufc with just a karate background then they wouldnt be successful.
this is what im trying to explain to you since you said floyd will do well in mma with just a boxing background.
train on his ground game etc for at least a few months before anything.
look at machida's background before he stepped into the ufc. karate is only one of his many skills. he's been training mma for years before stepping into the ufc!!

of course they cross train ALOT of karatekas do.....
its the mcdojos that believe their ONE single style is the best etc
