Deontay Wilder: "SKILLS DONT PAY THE BILLS, I PROVED THAT!"

Wilder is fortunate he's only fought like 2 full-time fighters in his whole career. HW such a graveyard division.
With that being said...Wilder has the heart of a champion - without a doubt - and his right hand is as powerful as any other fighter in boxing. He can easily be outboxed though, can be hurt, and can be finished.
A guy needs to have respectable pop, move to their right (his left), tremendous focus/concentration, and a decent defense.
Really not all that difficult. Wilder very, very linear.
Ortiz outboxed him badly, was way ahead in the fight, but got tired (from being unable to finish - full credit to Wilder) and Wilder took full advantage (again, full credit to Wilder). It was clear Ortiz was "better", but Wilder was ever the opportunist. And a lot of times opportunity can overcome skill when there's that much powerComment

Want to hear the saddest thing?
All 3 judges had the fight 85-84 for Wilder.
That's boxing...XD
Ortiz was clearly - way, way, way - ahead and that's even with a goddamn KD in round 5. Amazing comeback for Wilder who survived the eighth, moved the 9th and actually regained his legs while letting Ortiz punch himself out, and capitalized in the 10thComment

At 4:11 in the video Wilder says "kids gonna imic me". WTF? He meant to say "mimic. haha
Good win for Wilder though. He showed heart.Comment

So Ortiz waited until he was 38 years old to go pro?
And the footage we have from the amateurs that clearly show him as a babyfaced young man in his mid 20s, he's actually in his mid 30s?Comment
