There are people that wanted Ortiz and Povetkin banned for life and supported the cancellations saying GGG is either a chicken if the fight doesn't go off or a money hungry fraud whose still scared if it does.

I think we just have to come to the conclusion that Boxing fans online are some of the dumbest, most hypocritical and tribal in all sports. All the fans I've encountered in real life with the exception of 1 or 2 are great. The worst was a Canelo fan claiming Canelo got robbed because he KO'd GGG but he was obliterated drunk.

If the "I didn't know" argument worked in real life, Parole Officers would have nothing to do all day long.

When the 1980's east germans were doping as kids and didn't know they had pills thrown in their drinks, they still cheated cause they tested positive. When margartio claimed he didn't know he had plasters in his hands, he still cheated regardless if he knew or not. Whether canelo knew or not dosen't change the fact that at the end of the day if you get tested positive you still cheated.

            Zero tolerance. This is ridiculous.

If your girl gets her drink sp*ked in a night out with her female friends, and she gets ****d by a guy unknowingly, is she cheating on you?

This is what happened. Canelo was ****d by tainted meat in Mexico. He was the victim here.

Did I say the fight should be off? Yes, canelo should be penalized. Good luck in that happening.

You need to know you are cheating to take full advantage of your cheating, cheating gives your added confidence, if you cheated unintentionally then you would not take advantage of if oppose to if you know you are cheating..... hope that makes sense lol.

I mean just thinking about this logically, idk if you can actually cheat by ingesting something you don't know you are ingesting.

Its something bad probably like not being accountable for your actions with making sure your food was safe, but I don't believe its directly cheating.

Canelo's actions weren't dishonest or unfair IF he didn't know he was consuming this banned substance. Only if he knew was it actually cheating.

I understand Canelo makes some mfers feel a certain kind of way, but knowing you are cheating is part of cheating.
This ^. For it to be 'cheating' there has to be intent. This is why it's much better to withhold the kind of quasi-moral judgements that are going on here because it kind of muddies the water. A PED test cannot tell you whether a person is 'good' or 'bad' or tell you what their intents were, it can only tell you whether they exceeded a certain ratio of metabolites in their blood or urine.

We don't know that he was cheating, all we know is that he didn't pass the test - what the sanctioning orgs or SAC decide to do from here on in is what matters. My own take - as I've expressed elsewhere is that their should be a low burden of proof to establish potential performance advantages (and the associated risk to the opponents health) and a higher burden of proof to establish a fighters' intent and decide on potential punitive measures.

ie. the fight should (in the rainbow unicorn world, of course) be postponed until it can be fully established that any advantages accrued if the fighter had been using PEDs would be rendered negliible by the passage of time, while the fighter continues to undergo a strict testing regime. On the other hand no ban or fine (or changing of past results, stripping of titles etc) should be imposed until intent to abuse PEDs is established. The testing system - like most criminal justice systems is hobbled by a lack of clarity of purpose - is it about the wellbeing of the broader sport, fighter health, punishing wrongdoing or deterrence? In trying to fulfill all these roles it does none of them justice - of course a case may be made that PED tesing in boxing is little more than a fig leaf anyway, so really, what does it matter if the testing policy is full of holes?
