Referees like Dave Fields.
He refereed both Joshua Klitschsko, and Wilder Ortiz and when all 4 fighters in both fights got hurt, he let them continue and when the opponent couldn't continue, he stopped the fight. He probably should've let Wlad continue lol, but I was happy with his decision either way.
This often goes overlooked as you need refs who can take charge of fights, warn fighters at the right time, and stop a fight in a timely manner.
We don't need anymore Phil Edwards type stoppages in good fights. He stopped Takam Joshua.
Boxers train too long for an incompetent ref to prematurely stop a fight. I know that we're on a fine line between a good fight where nobody is hurt and permanent damage...and even death.
But the numbers suggest that most fights happen to end where neither guy is permanently hurt.
Kudos Dave Fields.
