It's not often we hear a fighter talk about a motivation to continue fighting beyond just wanting to be a champion again or show they've "still got it"...

It is refreshing to hear a fighter talk about what the sport does for him as a person, supporting his family, fighting for what is important to him, understanding what the sport has done for him and people who need to channel energy in a somewhat positive way...

I can get behind that. However, we just don't want Juanma to become a cautionary tale. He achieved a peak that not many can say they had. From his breakout fight with Ponce De Leon in 2008 to a very tough, but still a W, win over Rafael Marquez. He's gone as far as he can on the big stage. Unfortunately, it's looking like he's not going much farther on the smaller stage either.

Let's just hope he gets some sort of late career quality win that he feels satisfied with riding off into the sunset.
