If Eddie Hearn has any integrity, he makes Wilder vs. AJ for Wembley in August or September. This iron is hot and the intangibles provide an air of drama unseen in the division in decades.

Ortiz performed like a typical Cuban boxer, he out boxed wilder. But he did something in round 7 I was waiting for since round 1. But wilder weather the storm. Then since that round Ortiz was gassed. Fight had everything I wanted. It was a great heavyweight fight.

Do you think Ortiz could have pulled it off if he would have weighed around 230 instead of 241 or he still would have gassed and then gotten clocked?

It would have helped but maybe not that much. Look at his punches from round 8 on, he was pushing his punches, that had nothing on them. He swung for the fences in round 7. A few more punches in round 7 and wilder was going down. But he probably would have gotten up.

Look Ortiz should blame himself for gassing out. When he had Wilder hurt in the 7th round, for the last 40+ seconds, I believe Ortiz threw about 20 or more heavy punches to get Wilder out of there. This is what led to his fatigue in Round 8.

So, it has nothing to do with his weight. If he had not gone that hard against Wilder in the 7th, maybe Wilder would have recovered faster too. So, it is a catch-22.

Go hard - gas. Go steady - opponent recovers.

Lol...Fans always blame a fighter for not finishing an opponent. There are case where this is true. However sometimes... you have to also give credit to a fighter for not allowing himself to be finished. To state it simply Deontay won the war of wills, we need to give the man credit. If it were as simple as always finishing a guy because he is hurt, then Deontay should have won anyway. Let’s remember Deontay hurt Ortiz first in the fifth. But we all know the game, if you wanted Deontay to lose the focal point of the fight will always be those moments when you actually thought it would happen. So for that person Deontay did nothing right, Ortiz just failed to get it done. We saw this same reaction when AJ hurt Vlad first but everyone talked about how Klitchko let him off the hook.

                1) Ortiz landed bomb after bomb the last 43 seconds of round 7. It should have been enough to take out any heavyweight. Give Wilder credit for his chin.

                2) Ortiz did not "gas out" he proceeded to win the next round and was also on his toes periodically in the 9th and 10th rounds. Gassed fighters do not typically dance.
