  • Comments Thread For: Parker's Trainer: Deontay Wilder Made Himself The Guy To Beat

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) was expected to have the toughest fight of his career on Saturday night, and he did. Wilder was nearly stopped in the seventh round, but came back to score a knockout victory over Luis Ortiz (28-1, 24 KOs) in the tenth round, as over 16,000 fans at Brooklyn's Barclays Center exploded.

    Yeah he's pretty much right.

Wilder has unbelievable heart and drive. In order to beat him opponents must have incredible focus and stick to a game plan of moving right (Deontay's Left). Wilder is linear in that only his right hand can hurt people, but he sets traps and is crafty in the way he gets opponents to stopping moving right.

He's an expert at putting guys to sleep. I wasn't sure until last night, but he's smarter than people think. His eyes tell a story on tape. The dude sees everything coming at him. That can't be overlooked imo.

Respect to the Parker camp for saying that. Expect a nice backhanded compliment today or tomorrow from Hearn.

The most dangerous one punch for sure.

Of course Parker's people are gonna say that but we all know the truth. AJ is the cash cow, the one that has proven more in half the amount of fights. Cant wait til this joke gets put in his place then his people will shut up.

What good is that if he still gets hit? As he did repeatedly last night. Luckily he has a good chin and good survival instinct.

Because as Holyfield said after the fight, "You only get dropped by the ones you don't see." Obviously an exaggeration, but it adds to the difficultly of getting him out of there.

I think he is a heavyweight slasher. Punches come from far back which means they should be able to be seen but the angles are weird and the speed is something else. Quite often it seems that the first punch shocks the opponent because it arrives out of nowhere but often isn't flush but then he follows up very quickly with accurate power punches.
