The opponent was a C class Russian scrub

      The fight was sh.it

Kov needs to step in with a live dog again enough of fighting the Russian B team

That C guy beat Beterbiev in three out of their four amateur fights. He was also ranked higher than Bivol on BoxRec until last night. And all other opponents were unavailable. Who was there to fight exactly?

Omar fig beat Spence in the amateurs. Who do you think would win now

who he beat in the ams means nothing really it was over a decade ago

What notable scalp as a pro does he have ??

Of the 4 fights in Ny last night this was the least compelling on paper and turned out to be the worst of the 4 . It ****** and was a sh.itty main event

I don’t know who he could have fought 175 is pretty top heavy and 3 of the guys ( Beterbiev, Bivol, Gvodsyk ) are untested and it’s splintered among the 3 sides

But if the undercard fighter can find a decent
opponent I’m sure if Duva opened up her purse strings and could actually promote and not just rely on a HBo lisencing fee then she could have come up with a better name then what she got

Barrera refused Kova fight for the second time, picking Bivol at his own detriment.

Beterbiev is in a promotional pickle and is inactive for now.

            Stevenson is fighting Jack.

Gvozdyk was trying to purse Alvarez for the WBC mandatory, with Eleider pulling out.

Marcus Browne just fought in late January.

Who was left? Joe Smith Jr? Fonfara?

              I agree somewhat with you

But I’m pretty sure Barrera said the reason he turned down the Kov fight was because they offered him less $ then the last time. If Duva wanted to make that fight they’re both in her stable it’d be done but for whatever reason she wants Kov to face nobodies

I think Kovs has this date set since he last fought in November/ December

3-4 months is more then enough time to find a opponent who moves the needle more then Mikhalin.

There is also the question of whether those other guys really want to face Kovalev as well... It's a two way street.
