Originally posted by Motorcity Cobra View PostYes he's done some big things. But without that Sky contracts he'd be nothing. Look at the failure of Danny Jacobs last fight. Jacobs has been built in Brooklyn and he took him to Long Island. Now he's back to his senses and bringing his next fight to Brooklyn. There is nothing special about Eddie other than his DNA
Hearn secured the Sky backing then made a big success of it.
What kind of promoter would he be if he didnt find the best way to distribute his product?
Edit: and on the US experiment. I think he will fail there. But, how many internationally successful promoters have there ever been? Im talking guys who have been successful in several big boxing markets?
I cant really think of any. Sauerland maybe? bit of a stretch though

I just doubt Wilder would leave Showtime to fight on a HBO PPV card. Both are with Showtime now. If Eddie leaves for HBO and starts talking that HBO only bull**** then it shows he's not serious about making the fight. Now is the time to make the fight. No network disputes. Nothing holding the fight up right now
And if Joshua signs with HBO & Wilder ISN'T signed with anyone who gives a f#ck if the fight can only happen on HBO? I don't understand the loyalty to Showtime.
And of course something is holding up the fight right now. Joshua gots a fight later this month which he could lose, just like Wilder coulda lost his fight last night, & his contract with Showtime is up after that fight so obviously he's gonna be looking at network deals in the US before any fight gets signed.

More than reasonable response from Eddie. Wilder has quite clearly said he won’t know negiotiate, while Parker who had the other belt has. Who would you choose to fight? Was always a fairly obvious decision really - no point wasting your time elsewhere.
The problem Hearn will now have is if Wilder sticks at 50/50 does he still make the fight happen? There are other fights short-term (Haye, Miller, Potvetkin, Whyte2, Fury, Pulev, Ortiz) but let’s be honest - he won’t want to fight all of those before taking on Wilder. Hopefully wilder just drops his expectations to at least 40/60 ; in that scenario I think everyone would get the fight happening!

When they come back to negotiate the 50/50 split will not even come up because it is so laughably out of whack with reality based on the Ortiz and Parker respective purses.

50-50 is completely dead in the water now.

AJ is the second biggest draw in boxing right now based on his purses. Dont be fooled just because he isnt a big name in the US
