Comments Thread For: Photos: Jose Uzcategui Batters, Stops Andre Dirrell in Rematch

In the co-featured event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING, Jose Uzcategui (27-2, 23 KOs) defeated Andre Dirrell (26-3, 16 KOs) via TKO two seconds into round nine, upon the request of Dirrell's trainer, Virgil Hunter. The win, which makes Uzcategui the interim IBF Super Middleweight World Champion, puts the hard-hitting Venezuelan in position to fight for the super middleweight title that Caleb Truax earned via a majority decision over James DeGale in December.

Dirrell may need to hang em up, I did not like how he was responding to Jose's rights. Every straight right from Jose was landing willfully.

Couldn't agree more. He was getting tagged all night long, from the very first round. His confidence is probably at an all-time low now. I hope he can recover well. So much natural talent but he couldn't seem to put it altogether. Less than the sum of his parts.

Agree. Very talented fighter but yesterday was not the Dirrell of old; slick combinations, movement, and speed.
