Deontay Wilder Is The Best Heavyweight In The World
...and he just beat a fight who is better than AJ.
Why do I say this?
1) AJ had 43 amateur fights; Ortiz had 362. That's over 8 times as many amateur fight so no way Joshua is anywhere near Ortiz technically.
2) Ordinarily we could point to age as an advantage to AJ, but it seems that Ortiz has as much or more stamina than AJ does at this point.
3) Folks who have sparred AJ and Ortiz say that Luis hits harder.
So, to recap.
Deontay Wilder weathered a 7th round barrage from a fighter who is technically better and harder hitting than Joshua...only to come back and knock that fighter out 3 rounds later.
I am not even sure Joshua survives that 7th round the same way Wilder did.
Lennox Lewis has it half right- this fight will do some of the same things for Wilder that the Klitschko fight did for AJ.
But, what is clear is that Wilder just beat an even MORE DANGEROUS opponent than AJ did, a southpaw to boot.
Wilder is the baddest man on the planet.
