He is a dirty fighter but boxing history is full of boxers dirtier than Ward. I would never call him a Coward. He was a brave champion. Good referees shouldn't have let him get away with his dirty tactics but too often they did.

Ward was dirty but wasn’t THAT dirty, he was nothing compared to Luis lazarte (this era), or Mysterious Billy Smith (old era).

Off the top of my head, golota, Casamayor, Tyson, Hopkins, and Norwood were worse.
