Wilder didn't even make excuses for his illness

We didn't hear a single thing about his illness that caused him to lose 5lbs, barely weighing in at 214lbs, the lightest since 9 years ago. Instead he actually embraced it, said weight didn't matter, there was no delay of the fight, no break in his confidence.

It's refreshing when so many fighters and fans make excuses, "oh he was jet lagged" "oh I over trained" "oh he's too small to move up" etc.

He's fought through a broken hand twice, fought with a torn bicep, fought a man 30lbs heavier, even chose this fight over an EASY pay day in Whyte. No idea how you can't respect him.

I think it showed that the illness took a toll too.
He looked slow and as the fight went on I felt like maybe Ortiz had the advantage in stamina.
But the KD by Ortiz woke something up in Wilder.
He held on and fought back.
Never went down after taking all that punishment.
Then comes back to KO his opponent. That was a guys and glory Rocky style performance.
But if I’m his coach we’re workout no on jabbing the rest of the year.
