I wasn't scoring every round but it sure looked like Ortiz was winning more rounds than Wilder.

It seemed like Ortiz blew his load in the 7th and 8th round (especially the 7th round), trying to take out Wilder. In the 9th he noticeably stopped moving to his right and seemed to be standing in front of Wilder without throwing OR moving. It looked like he had run out of gas at that point.

I had Ortiz up two rounds. The champion withstood the assault of his tough opponent and knocked his ass out when he had to making the scores null and void. That’s what champions do.

A lot of the early rounds were close. Some of you are lying on your scorecards just because you can...and a few of you need to rewatch the fight.

I had Wilder winning 2rds. Ortiz was a lot better fighter than what I thought. Ortiz is a helluva counter puncher. I havent seen a heavyweight with such a quick counter since?.. Great fight

They were close because neither really threw much, Ortiz won imo the 1st 3rds strictly on coming forward and landing a jab or 2. None of the rds were a complete dominance though. I dont think its that big a deal that Wilder was down, it actually showed me he can fight through adversity and he finished well. I think both mens stock went up. I think Ortiz wouldve been champ a few years back.

Good post. I didn’t think that Ortiz won round 2. He did win rounds 1 and 3.
