Why did the referee gave some extra time for Wilder to recover? It's not even subtle anymore
The only real problem with open scoring, in boxing anyway, is that such a system would let inept/inexperienced/"crooked" judges actually affect the eb/flow of the fight.

There are likely other examples, but I look back to the Trout-Canelo fight; Austin Trout was basically able to box a 50/50 fight with Alvarez, the 8th round scores showed the judges having it wide, and Trout abandoned what'd been working, starting simply trying to press the fight, and Alvarez was basically able to win the last 4 rounds.

If the fight had been closed scoring, Trout would've kept to the strategy that had the fight 50/50, and Alvarez would've had to fight hard, with a live crafty guy in front him, down the stretch (it wasn't known then, but we now know that Alvarez has issues maintaining his stamina down the stretch).

Who knows how the fight turns out then.

    • Look, I should have full green and idiots like yoshik and kofka and vitali00 should have all red or be banned. I am a genius. All you haters need to come to grips with reality. Everyone knows Wilder and AJ are the only hws that matter. But I get it, AJ, Hearn, the fanboys, and the haters will all make up excuses for AJ to fight anyone not named Wilder. Guarantee it. AJ is running scared. Honestly, AJ is probably the better fighter, but his fear will cost him the fight with Wilder whenever it happens. Wilder will just keep beating the top contender over and over and over again until AJ grows a pair. Great fight. Possibly the best fight I've seen since AJ-Wlad. Honestly. If AJ doesn't face Wilder after Parker he needs to just get castrated and make it official.

        • Wilder is The Demolition Man!

Good luck Joshua; wouldn't want to be you in there with a man who has speed, heart, solid chin, toughness, stamina, crazy reach, and that W.O.M.D in that right hand!

Also, Wilder didn't use the jab a lot cuz he knew it's not a good weapon to use against a southpaw, especially one as experienced and technically savy as King Kong Ortiz is!

What a ***ing fight, Wilder showed a lot and proved a lot!

Joshua, the ball's in your court, the world wants it!

I really hope Joshua rematches Takam, and I think he might, just to shut you clueless clowns up on the subject.
Man stfu, how many weeks did takam train for aj? They both were given the same time. That robot is gona malfunction, he is gona hit air all night and when he does bum rush he getting taken out

Joshua/Wilder will be a definite 50/50 fight, just like I said this fight would be... and was. Ortiz NEARLY stopped Wilder, or did some of you not notice? Ortiz, the fighter every naysayer thought was 50 years old, nothing if he wasn't juiced up, and was supposedly slow and worthless. So, according to YOU guys, Wilder beat another can. Woo hoo! I never thought Ortiz was a can, but you naysayers sure did!
World, Its time for you to observe a hater. This man assured that Wilder would lose, and was prepared to gloat the night away. Instead of being a humble man and admitting he was wrong, he found a way to put down the man he wa supporting to win all in an effort to put down the champion. This my friends, is a man who doesn't know happiness. Who only finds drop of pleasure in the shortcomings of others because his life has been so filled with his own shortcomings. Observe with pity and avoid at all costs, lest you fall into the dark hole of hatery yourself.

                • Wilder needs a new trainer ASAP. that mofo he's with is making literally zero corrections to all of his amateurish flaws. they're simply relying on power to bail him out.

imagine if Wilder was actually polished, balanced and composed with his punches. he would be unbeatable.

they are just riding with his power. there is zero technique in Wilder. he is the last boxer you would want an aspiring fighter to study.

that trainer is dog **** and has to go.

I don't get that as a defense against open scoring. EVERY sport that has the score known by competitors has competitors making decisions based upon that score. I don't really get why boxers should be seen as lesser & not worthy of knowing where they stand.

I wouldn't even be mad if fans were left out of knowing the score if fans enjoy the "surprise" of it all as is another defense against open scoring, but I believe it ups the intelligence & strategy of the sport to have open scoring if anything.

Just stop. Spence Jr today, right now, anywhere, anytime would get KoŽd against Canelo. The first head and body shot Canelo connects will have Spence covering up for life the rest of the fight until he is stopped. Theres a reason boxing has weigh divisions and Spence Jr is nowhere ready for that leap against a good fighter. GGG cant stop Canelo but 147 pound Spence Jr is suppose too??? LOL
