Glad Brook got this one outta the way. I applaud him daring to be great with the GGG fight. And I admire him being a true champion and giving Spence his shot. But honestly, had I been advising his career, I would have been against both fights. I would have been against GGG because Gennady just isn’t the guy you wanna make that daring a move against. And fighting Spence after GGG was just crazy. Especially dropping back all the way down to 47 to do so. IMO he should have dropped the belt and told Spence he was still willing to fight him. But it would have to be at 54, or a catchweight between 47 and 54.
Either way, I’m curious to see if Brook can make some noise at 54. I know Khan is the fight he wants. But I wouldn’t invest a lot of energy in making it a priority. Khan thinks he’s a bigger star than he really is. And I’m not 100% confident Khan even wants to fight Brook. A more interesting matchup for Brook to me is Spence’s stablemate Jermell Charlo. If he were able to beat Jermell, maybe he could get a chance to avenge that Spence loss at a more comfortable weight.
