  • Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker: Josh Kelly Added To The Card

Josh Kelly has had his next fight confirmed. The Sunderland stylist, 23, competed at the 2016 Olympics in Rio and has raced to 5-0 in the paid code. Kelly, who has four early finishes on his unblemished ledger to date, was last in action before Christmas at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London when he stopped Jean Michel Hamilcaro.

Hate when promoters just add names to a card.

Make fights and add them to the card.

Hearn is one of the worst for this

at 5-0 who do you want him to face? a top 10 of a ranking org? lol..

he's a relatively known name because of his style and who it echoes in lomachenko, but thats it...

The kids gonna fight a dust man, and at 5-0, thats about right for his current time in the game

He does it constantly, it’s ****ing pointless. I hate the way he just has these Olympains beating no hopers and then tries to claim it’s some great addition to the card. It’s pathetic.
I really hope Kelly gets a decent opponent. Doubt it though.

He’s an elite amateur with a tonne of experience. Speaking of Lomachenko what did he do in his first 5 fights???
I’m not saying he should be fighting for world titles by any means, but he should be fighting people who will TEST him. He’ll learn NOTHING from beating “dust men” who don’t belong in the same ring with him.

by using the comparison to lomachenko how was kelly an elite amateur? he won bronze at the european games and got knocked out the last 16 in the olympics.. Thats literally it.

lomachenko won gold at two olympics in different divisions.. 2 golds at world champs, one silver and a gold at the euros.

I compared styles, to even suggest that because they have similar styles and through lomachenko's amateur accolades and first 5 pro bouts, that josh kelly should do the same or even similar is just idiotic.

he'll progress to the point whereby he should be fighting for the british championship by is 12/13th fight, anything sooner is pushing too far. his wins in amateur werent spectacular..

The comparisons to Loma are ridiculous, they’re not even stylistically similar IMO. Loma is arguably the greatest amateur ever. But that doesn’t mean Kelly wasn’t an elite amateur, he has multiple national titles, medals in youth world championship’s, European games and he competed in the Olympic’s.

                    The point I’m making is
fighters with the amateur pedigree and more importantly experience of Josh Kelly are far beyond the level of fighting journeymen to simply gain experience. What is the point of him having 8 more meaningless fights building up to a british title fight???? Building a padded record for Kelly would be hindering his progress not helping it.
Kelly could easily have success at domestic level now, to put it in context. If Skeete presumably vacates, would you pick Corcoran, Mucha, Garton etc to beat Kelly? I certainly wouldn’t.
