Canelo has as many haters as he has as fans. Not all mexicans dislikes him.

He is one of the top of the world and is always improving. I used to not fall for the hype but he has proven me otherwise.

If Canelo was darker like Barrera or Morales he'd get a lot more love down there.

Its a more interesting and satisfying story when a tough kid lifts himself out of poverty to become a champion.

This is even more true in poorer countries like Mexico.

Because most Mexicans have no idea about boxing, they worship a former alcoholic (chavez sr) a guy who's record was stacked with raxi drivers and street sweepers, Canelo after JMM is the best boxer Mexico has produced...those people have no pride, how can they take sides with that Kazakh bum and turn their backs on their fellow country man.

Canelo wasn't a rich kid from what I understand. But he has to do more to earn some people's respect than to beat up smaller boxers like Khan and that is where Golovkin enters into the picture.
