HBO has 30-40% more subscribers than Showtime has.

Spence vs. Peterson and Superfly 2 did an identical amount of viewers, despite HBO being in far more homes, as well as Showtime allowing their fights to be aired in a variety of ways not counted by Nielsen, viewing methods that are all blocked by HBO to protect the publicly announced number for their fights.

I don't trust you showtime shill. you have definitive numbers? where's your sources?

Yeah, it's great for the fans but I feel for the fighters. They are more talented and taking on riskier matches than most fighters but for example Rios got more for Garcia than did this entire card combined. Despite drawing more eyeballs. Garcia probably made what 3-4 Superfly's would cost.

112-118 is probably the best thing in Boxing right now. Very little promotional beefs and issues, fighters willing to fight each other, fighters willing to put it all on the line and actually deliver consistently entertaining fights. Fights are easy to make and they happen often.

While they are certainly underpaid, I can assure you that each boxer received a lot more than was reported. Neither promoters nor the boxers are under any legal obligation to provide accurate purses to the State Athletic Commission. I believe they under-report for a variety of reasons, taxes being one of the main ones.

If you all recall, the Nevada State Athletic Commission reported that Canelos purse was 5 million and that Golovkin’s was 3 million for their first fight last year. Which we all know is not true, such is the case here.

yes they are, they just lie anyway. saves on taxes. saves on SANCTIONING FEES, etc.

but there are also ways to arrange the money where the legality isn't as clear.

contract which the fighter's vanity promotional company, owned by the fighter, who then pays himself a minimal amount, etc.

there are all sorts of shenanigans going on.

which is why it's silly when fans look at filed purses and take them at face value.

it used to be so out of control that sanctioning bodies started suing fighters because they were blatantly lying about their purses so badly.
