    The death of heavyweight Scott Westgarth has been described as a disaster by British Boxing chief Robert Smith although he said it was impossible to make the sport 100 percent safe. Westgarth, 31, won his fight against Dec Spelman in Doncaster on Saturday but looked uncomfortable as he was interviewed ringside after his points victory.

    Boxing is a combat sport. Combat and safe are two words that don't go together. These guys understand the risk involved each and every time they get in the ring. Hell, even if you want to spar at a boxing gym, most trainers will make you sign a waiver that they aren't responsible should you die. That's sparring... You cannot make a sport safer when it involves collisions with the skull.
