If it's one on Showtime, and one on HBO, this just might work! If they both have to be on HBO, fight doesn't happen!

Comments Thread For: Hearn Open To Do Joshua-Wilder Twice - One in U.S., One in UK

It seems weird to be arranging two fights back to back. I get the rush for a rematch if there's been a dodgy decision, say Holyfield v Lewis. But to schedule in advance two fights is bizarre. What if the first is awful? What if it's a mismatch or a stylistic nightmare? Has it been done before?

The closer the fight comes to actually happening, the more sensible everyone gets
Wilder and Joshua are both fighting in March; now, it's coming down to getting the bag right for everyone involved.
The Miller fight isn't going to happen, in September anyway; the IBF have already had their mandatory defense, and Povetkin is owed the Joshua-Parker winner if he beats David Price. I sincerely doubt that WoB steps aside to give Miller the shot at the WBA/IBF/WBO champion.
Still, Hearn has now made it clear that he's ready to bring the AJ show to the US, for a spoken date that's set for early fall/late summer, against a fighter who's basically a fringe challenger at this point; now it's up to the US venues to put up the money.
MGM Resorts puts up $15m to host Wilder-Joshua, and then things get moving. Hearn/Haymon then sit down, lock in a two-fight deal (T-Mobile Arena for August/September, Principality Stadium or Wembley for February/March).

Hearn “willing” to do? Well geez, Hearn got that rematch clause set anyways. Rather practical statements knowing your boxer is going to get KO’d. I guess Hearn wants to see that twice!
