In Stevenson’s defense he would have been stripped if he didn’t. And Bellew was top 3 and had the WBC strap.. it’s a good test the waters fight for Ward

Test the waters? Ward held three belts at 175. Stevenson had the other belt and is the lineal champ. He is called a cherry picker for fighting guys like Bellew. He is constantly dogged for facing opposition like Bellew. It isn't testing the waters, it is running away from Stevenson and fighting a cherry. Honestly, that would be like Floyd Mayweather coming back to fight Brandon Rios. If you are p4p #1 you don't retire when there are elite fighters in your own division you refuse to fight and then come back to fight bums, the guys you refuse to face have already ktfo.

Bellew is a bum. Ward needs to fight Stevenson. He won't though. Stevenson isn't Kov, Superman has heart to go along with his power.

Gotta give it to Ward though, he totally played Jay-Z and Roc Nation. Talked them into giving him millions more than the fight made for both Kov fights. Which Roc Nation probably did figuring it had the p4p champ and future fights would more than make up for it. Roc Nation literally lost millions of dollars on Ward. Ward refuses to even talk about any Haymon fighter. He has blocked himself off so the only people he can do business with are pub fighters. Ward can sell out Oakland and Bellew can sell out pubs in England. Ward is a world class fighter and Bellew is about five grades lower.

I don't wanna see Mayweather come back to fight Rios and I don't wanna see Ward come back to fight Bellew. Both are meaningless fights with a p4p great against a bum.
