Comments Thread For: Briedis' Manager: In a Rematch, My Fighter Will Beat Usyk!

After a fast start with the first-round matchups last September, the WBSS tournament continued with the semi-final bouts in 2018. The first one came in the cruiserweight series between unbeaten champions Oleksandr Usyk and Mairis Briedis on January 27 in Riga, Latvia.

I wonder if Mairis Breidis can match Andre Ward's dirty fighting. Breidis head butts if he gets head butted, he'll low blow harder when he gets lowblowed, and elbow's harder when he gets elbowed. Heck, he made Usyk trip on his feet when Usyk wasn't even initiating anything.

Mairis Breidis may beat usyk in a rematch but would be KO'ed by Murat Gassiev

Don't see him winning a rematch, Usyk knows what he's about now. The first fight was very, very competitive. Breidis is a fast little guy with a good jab, and was able to close the distance and pressure Usyk, never letting Usyk settle as he does in his fights, taking over towards the end but Breidis kept on coming.

Both world class athletes with good cardio

Breidis would lose again in a rematch and would be knocked cold by both Dorticos and Gassiev. They’d be entertaining match-ups though.

He should make some waves in the mean time. Vlasov or Glowacki maybe?

According to the manager, Briedis has a come back fight somewhen on May. Maybe even on Usyk-Gassiev card.

After that Briedis beats the Ukrainian should he win a final bout. He's much more cerebral with better team. The only reason he lost the first fight is his stamina. But they definitely can improve it. Briedis overtrained for the fight and ran out of gas too early. Anyway, he got 5 rounds against a given winner of the Tournament. So, he has an edge over both Gassiev and Dorticos

There is no rematch so sit on it and get the belt once Usyk vacate it.

Both, but Usyk's cardio was better )
If the rematch is arrenged in Kiev Usyk will win more comfortable. Every punch by Briedis to boxing gloves had effect for audience in Arena Riga. It made difficulties for judges to judge correctly.
