Could Thurman vs Spence Become The New Mayweather vs Pacquiao?

I've remembered that Thurman only said that 2019 is a more realistic year for a Spence match, than this year. He never confirmed that he'd fight Spence next year. Matter of fact, he hasn't even confirmed who he's fighting this year. If Thurman vs Spence doesn't happen next year, how much longer do you think Thurman will marinate it?

They will fight 2023. be patient. these things take time. Keith is a smart bidness man. Floyd made Pacquiao wait for half a decade so boxing fans are very patient.

If they do get it on, it'll be a better fight than Floyd vs Manny, given the fact that they are both younger.

They're not big enough stars individually where they could fight other people for 4-5 years and still make Tens of Millions at the gate / PPV. The REAL issue is whether or not Spence is gonna stick around 147 after next year because he's really a Jr Middleweight who can make 147 but for how long? I sorta look at Crawford vs Spence more of a Leonard v Hearns fight being they're still very likely going to be in their primes in the next 3-4 years. We got much older / past prime Floyd and Manny when it did happen. If and when Bud and Spence do fight it MAY end up being at 154.

No. For one thing, neither of them is a household name. For another, the PPV model is dying. That, and there aren't enough opponents available for them to milk under Haymon. They belong to the same promoter/manager, so there is no excuse of demanding they change promoters, or that they cannot work with Arum or other promoters.

I think they will fight in 2019, which means they will both still be in their prime.

The American scene is so stale and pointless now, these guys (Wilder is the chief amongst them) who aren't even big draws acting like prima donna superstars.

I think it is somewhat different. Mayweather and Pacquiao both wanted the fight but it was delayed for years because they couldn't agree on terms and the money split. Spence badly wants to fight Thurman and the sooner the better. Thurman doesn't seem to want to fight Spence. Not now, not this year and probably not ever.

Dumb proposal. They both haven't done much to warrant being mentioned in the same sentence as May/Pac let alone an equivalent fight.

No. There aren't the names at 147 to make either of them as big as Floyd or Manny. They need each other sooner rather than later.

If anything this could become a Manny vs JMM type rivalry that led both guys to higher status & bigger fights with others & a rematch or rubber match between them. The longer the put this off the less likely that'll be to happening doe.

Mayweather and Pacquiao had fans that were polar opposites. They were on different networks, different promotional companies. Thurman and Spence shouldn't have any problems making this fight but apparently it's complicated.
