You don't know that. $2 million was filed with the commission. In boxing, top fighters often manipulate their purses to save on taxes and sanctioning fees. Unless you believe Miguel Cotto was really only paid 750k for his retirement fight?

You'd have to be a moron to think Spence/Garcia right now is as big a fight as Thurman/Garcia was last year. Spence needs more time to be built up. Garcia needs more time to recover from his loss. Regardless of whatever Thurman & Garcia were actually paid last year, that was a massive fight that had lots of build up. Between two undefeated fighters. Thurman/Spence is the fight that next year will be as big or bigger than Thurman/Garcia was.
You're assuming Danny wins that fight, which he probably wouldn't. He may end up fighting Spence. We'll have to see. But you can't blame Garcia for preferring the bigger fight.
Spence and Danny both just made 1.2 million respectively to fight Peterson and Rios.
You'd have to be a moron to think they'll make anything less than 2 million to fight each other.
Just as you'd have to be a moron to think fighting Spence and winning the IBF would hurt Danny's chances at getting another unification with Thurman.
