What Role does Demeanor Play in PPV Success?

Hopefully, Top Rank will find a way to expose Crawford to a wider audience. Whether that be through appearances outside of boxing or a more aggressive demeanor for Bud, something needs to be done. (from a recent Boxingscene Article).

what does a "more aggresive demeanor" consist of? why not expand on how Crawford's persona needs to be more "aggressive"? since the writer didn't explain I'm just assuming you want Crawford to be a loud mouth. you want him to be flashy and flamboyant. but isn't that the reason why so many claim they hate Broner and Floyd? I read comments from fans in the UK who have similar issues with loud mouths like BJS and Eubank.

so no I disagree that Crawford must alter his persona to succeed. it is the promoters job to promote. what other meaning can this "aggressive demeanor" have? you want him to be a stand up comedian?

nobody tells Mikey Garcia, GGG or Loma to have a more "aggressive" demeanor.

not every talented fighter is destined for PPV success anyway. Roy Jones was the total package. unheard of talent and an "aggressive" demeanor. yet he never became a PPV attraction. you can count on one hand all the PPV stars in history. (Tyson, Floyd, Oscar, Manny and Canelo.)

Oscar, Manny and Canelo didn't/don't have an "aggressive" demeanor. their talents and performances sold/sells tickets. and we all know both Manny and Floyd piggybacked off Oscar.

in this upcoming card in terms of attraction I think that's Jeff Horn. and people will be surprised at the decent numbers this pulls. mainly due to Aussie fans. why are American boxing fans not as supportive towards American born fighters? that's the real question here.

what are your thoughts on this "aggressive demeanor"?why are American boxing fans not as supportive and enthusiastic like UK fight fans appear to be? if Andre Ward was British there's no way his mega fights with Kovalev flop twice on PPV. are so called hardcores/purists in the U.S. simply too cheap? what is it.

I think its more about his lack of desire to talk to the media. I've heard that he's never been a fan of media sh^t & does the bare minimum. Thats a problem for a PPV guy or wannabe PPV guy.

One of the things you'll often hear about the biggest guys in boxing or any sport/entertainment profession is the amount of time they spent signing autographs & doing meet & greet type sh^t & just speaking to the media. I've heard mfers turning down media sh^t more in this era than ever before & Crawford is one of those types of guys. If you wanna be super famous you need to be super out there.

PPV prices have to be partly to blame. US been pushed right to the edge with the price, and if it dont deliver people pissed off. I just paid for Eubank/ Groves, cost about the same as 2 packs of cigarettes, you dont mind, helping out. $70-100 is just pure greed, US fans been pushed to the brink. Even the big fights are open to everyone, can get tickets £40, US youre talking hundreds, priced the fans out.

I think Crawford's problem is a lack of formidable opponent. He ran through the lower division because he was so much better than everyone else. Now has quite a few opponents for him to make a real statement on a much larger scale. If he ends up fighting a lot of in house opponents it won't do anything for him. As far as his demeanor, it will get better. Mike Tyson wasn't media friendly early on his career but he made a lot of headlines outside of boxing and was married to Robin Givens.
