I'm super curious what a Joyce vs Chisora fight in May would look like so hope that can happen.
He doesn’t look fast or powerful but Lewison is no mug and Joyce knocked him down by taking a punch which is a pretty cool special move

His style in general is very off beat and awkward. He is more difficult to fight than his technique and stiffness would make it appear imo.

Whether that can carry him all the way, I dont know, I wouldnt have thought so, but I wouldnt write him off at all.
I don’t know man, his jab is ok only because he steps with it, not because it’s a quality snapping jab.

Of course it would be much harder to actually fight him then just watch him but from the eye test he is really not very talented, that part is just obvious.

Derrick beats joe even when is way past his prime

It was a bum but it was his 2nd fight and he’s fighting in a few weeks so this was probably used as a confidence booster.

His first fight was against Dillian Whyte’s 20th opponent and he matched whyte’s result.

Lmao so many haters, Joyce looks good, reminds me of Breazeale who's top contender. Big, powerful, durable relentless and... slow.

Sure but im not talking about the technique. Jabbing is as much about rhythm and timing as it is a about perfect technique. Joyce steps in when opponents dont expect. He takes seemingly random steps off to the side, goes on little cake walks. It all adds to his awkwardness and makes him a pretty effective ring general.

Put that together with a relentless workrate and stamina and i reckon there could be more there than meets the eye test.

Even if it wasnt a strong amateur era he was a part of, they dont give out Olympic silvers for nothing. Ge dealt with Dychko much better than AJ did, for example. Hes a good boxer in his own way

Chisora would a tough test for any 2 fight novice. Not sure i would oick there tbh

Well I hope I’m wrong about him and there’s a new world class heavyweight for exciting match ups in the future, but yeah I am going by what I see of him in the ring and he doesn’t look very convincing to me.

If he goes in with Chisora he immediately has the best resume of all the up coming heavyweights. Hayes actually moving him kinda smart - first fight on paper is very impressive, 10 rounder, unstopped veteran opponent who has challenged for a minor belt beaten by tko. Second fight guy with a winning record. 3rd fight past his prime well known contender.

I think Joyce is a better boxer than he looks, judging by his amateur record. He has a very awkward looking style. Quite ungainly and clumsy looking without seeming to have much speed.

Hard to say how good he could ever really be though, especially starting his pro career so late.

Would like to see him against someone with proven quality
