    A Tribute To Mike Quarry

    A TRIBUTE TO MIKE QUARRY

He was always Jerry's little brother but he deserved more then that. He
always walked in the shadow of his famous brother but in his own right he
was a top notch professional fighter.

Mike Quarry is dead at the age of 55. Pugilistic Dementia may have
been the cause. He was one of the best light heavyweights of the Bob Foster
era. Mike had 82 fights. That is quite a lot in this day and age.

Mike turned pro in 1969 and he proceeded to win 36 straight bouts.
Among his victims were Andy Kendall and Jimmy Dupree.

He lost to the great Bob Foster in 1972. From that point on Mike met
the best in the light heavyweight division with mixed results. He met the
colorful Ray " Windmill" White, Hal Carroll, Tom Bogs, Cleveland's Billy
Wagner, Andy Kendall ( again ) , Pierre Fourie, Yaqui Lopez, Tom " The Bomb
    " Bethea and Mike Rossman.

Mike retired in 1982. He won 63 while losing 13. He had six draws. He
was a slick boxer and he was very courageous. Despite his lack of punching
power he was able to hang tough with the best of his time.

    Rest in peace Mike Quarry...
