I'm sure Rod Salka also came to fight. He just wasn't winning.

Rios was done after the Pacquiao & Alvarado fights. He made some decent money and went as far as he's ever going to go. Like Chino after he fought Floyd, there wasn't anything else for him to do.

Rios had 2-3 years where he was fresh and hungry, but he's 4-5 years over the hill now. The Bradley fight showed how far he had slipped, and that was 2.5 years ago. I imagine he's in much worse condition now.

Uh, Mike Tyson won the WBC HW title at 20 years, 4 months.
I think what they meant is the longest at 168

With Rios stamina and chin he might keep things interesting. Danny simply has more skills but if he comes to slug it out it should be fun

Its not really disrespecting Rios to say he is a cherry at this point. He was a good fighter, apparently once won some (paper) title. He has done better than 99% of people who ever put on boxing gloves. But he was never big enough and good enough to win anything at ww.

What Rios doesn't seem to understand is his come forward, let's fight style is perfect for a counter puncher like Swift. Honestly though, Rios was probably asked what he thought about the cherry comments, and what was he supposed to say?

I don't rate him that highly but he's an exciting fighter, I think he has some ring qualities that may be difficult for Garcia to deal with, so Tim Bradley, Manny pacquiao, and a tough mike Alvarado beat him, I just don't see why everyone is writing him off against Danny. IMO Danny ain't that special.

                  lets concentrate on the b/u.....

maybe its his fans that are not seeing what everyone else is ?

rios is going to be catching all night. if swift isnt special, then rios is many levels below that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not some sort of Rios fanboy. I like Garcia also, I guess I like to go for the underdog from time 2 time, Garcia is due 4 another loss, what's he done at welterweight to make people think he's gonna destroy Rios? Only person he's destroyed in a while was lightning rod, he pretty much lost to Herrera and Peterson As well. I think it'll be interesting, hey remeber its boxing, it don't always go how it should.

ok, what has rios ever done besides being ''exciting''

you say youre not a rios fan boy but youre not being equally critical.

trust me, whatever shortcomings swift may have, rios has dozens of them.
