Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson Begins Year Two

By Thomas Gerbasi - When talking about his first 12 months as a professional boxer, Shakur Stevenson appears to be a lot more mature than most 20-year-olds. He says he's happy with his progress and his 4-0 record, particularly the two Madison Square Garden wins over Carlos Gaston Suarez and Oscar Mendoza that constitute the two knockouts on that perfect slate, but that there is room for growth and even better performances in year two...

He still has a lot to learn and a lot of room to improve before he fights for a title. He could be ready in the summer of 2019 if he fights often enough and if they raise his level of competition fight after fight.

No need to fight too many fighters with losing records, his next opponent seems to have a good record of 8-1 and he's coming off a win so he can make it interesting and help Shakur learn a couple of things in there. I think the best fights for upcoming prospects are against former world champions, they always have something to show a young buck in the ring and fighters grow from such experiences. We need to see Shakur in crunch moments first before he fights for a title and he needs to fight different styles in 12 round fights as well.

Can't wait until the day that Shakur, Haney, and Davis, are all in one weight division!

You must be crazy, Devin Haney in a whole nother weight class and is bigger than Floyd was that kid gonna be at 147, Stevenson and Davis shouldn't go any higher than 140 max or they will end up like Broner or worse...

Stevenson got OK skillz but really lacks power for a pro boxer. Davis got decent pop but too small and his limited height going to really make it hard to make any noise at the higher weights he'll be like Zab Judah he go that route...

Little Tupac is special, another American world champion no doubt ; hottest prospect in the game. I never miss a fight, this kid will provide me tons of fun in the coming years.
