anybody remember the footage after the maidana fight of a dazed and near tearful broner getting led out of the ring by two giant bodyguards ?

the broner meme and gif thread is something i'll never forget.

while i think there's some merit to the idea that some of the posts were racist and that some of the posters were enjoying the spectacle too much just because broner was brash and black, the thread f#cking delivered.

broner clearly thought he'd end up on PPV and that he'd be the next floyd mayweather. honestly, i could see it if he had kept winning and he could stay at lower weights and look spectacular against 130 and 135 lbers. the guy is even more hate-able than floyd is. people would have paid 75 bucks to hope he loses. he's just not that good. floyd backed all of his ****talking up with 50 wins spanning three decades without a loss. broner has lost to the three best fighters he has faced. arguably lost to paulie, ponce, too.

Broner took the mega leap in swift fashion to 147 because he wanted to be Floyd's biggest threat. He badly wanted to be Floyd's Pacquiao or Floyd's Floyd.

He was never really anything special, I saw his fight before he went to 147 and all I saw was a bigger guy getting tagged non stop. I knew if he fought anyone his own size and power, he was going to have a really hard time winning that. Infact he lost them and some...

And yes! Broner vs Maidana fight is still a very enjoyable fight to watch and I am pure 100% black.

Folks don't seem to get that point, for whatever reason. This wasn't Floyd's deal, where Showtime/CBS guaranteed him $250m over 30 months for 6 fights.

Broner would've given RocNation his 4 prime fighting years, for a contract that likely only gets him the full payout if he made it through the whole slate of fights (at Broner's age, you could be talking about 12-15 fights), with Broner already showing everyone what happened.

If he doesn't buy in, you could put Emmanuel Steward in the corner and it wouldn't matter.

He's tuned out Mike Stafford, and hopefully Kevin Cunningham can get through to him, but he basically needs Floyd "Money" Mayweather in his corner at this point; Floyd seems to be the only person whose approval that Broner covers at this point.

He's a good fighter but lack of discipline was what got to him.

Definitely not as a guarantee, but for a 4-year deal, $40m as the final payout isn't some ridiculous figure, especially if Broner could've kept winning and fighting well.

3 fights a year, for four years, and you're looking at RocNation offering a deal for short of $3.5m for a fight (the main event payout for a PPV debut at this point).

If Broner had kept on winning, he wouldn't have been Floyd, but he'd be approaching what Canelo can draw in the US, and all it'd basically cost RocNation in risk would likely be the take on the gate, with the PPV a profit for everyone to split.

                  Broner IMO made 2 mistakes:

Should've stayed with HBO where he built a solid fanbase and should've moved from Cincinnati to Vegas as soon as he got his name going to get away from his old neighborhood.

                  Huge waste of talent.

Broner accomplished so much, so quick at an early age. All that money and fame and wanting to live the Mayweather lifestyle really srewed him up. I think he is still a draw and needs to go back to the lower weight classes. I dont think he can hang with the top 147lbrs. And let his damn hands go! Pop shotting and that one punch at a time **** is not gonna get him anywhere.
